City of Lewes Working to Remove Illegally Stored Items from Inland Dunes

Lewes, De. (DELMARVA NEWS NOW) — The City of Lewes is partnering with the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control to tackle the issue of illegally stored items like kayaks on the inland dunes along the coast.

Officials say they’ll start with an awareness campaign informing the public boats, kayaks and other items on the inland dunes are illegally stores, and could cause harm to the dunes and prevent them from protecting coastal properties as well as providing natural habitat for native wildlife.

City officials also say that they’re working on tackling concerns related to pedestrian and vehicular travel on the dunes.
