Governor Carney Announces $40M in COVID-19 Housing Relief

Delaware Governor John Carney has announced $40 million dollars in financial relief for renters and home owners impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The funding was initially only open to renters but is now being extended to those that need emergency mortgage assistance due to missed payments.

The Governor said “We know many Delawareans continue to face a very challenging time as they struggle with the economic effects of the COVID-19 crisis.” He continued “By reopening the rental assistance program and providing similar financial assistance to homeowners, we hope to help more Delaware families stay in their homes during and after the pandemic.”

Eligible households will receive up to $5,000 in assistance. The funding is intended for those who have a maximum household income post-pandemic at or below 80 percent of the Area Median Income.
