Maryland Governor Larry Hogan has announced he will undergo surgery to remove a cancerous growth on his face and shoulder.
The Governor’s Communications Director Mike Ricci announced the procedure, taking place on Friday, will be a minor outpatient procedure.
The cancer is described as early stage basal and squamous cell carcinoma, a form of cancer the Governor has received treatment for in the past.
Governor Hogan was previously diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma, which he celebrated five years of being free from in June.
