(DELMARVA NEWS NOW) — Maryland State Police continue their investigation into a Monday afternoon crash in Denton that killed a 51-year-old woman.
Troopers say the accident happened around noon on Sunday. A Pontiac sedan was traveling eastbound on Route 404 and for unknown reasons traveled into the westbound lane into oncoming traffic and was struck by a Chevy Suburban. A 16-year-old driver of a Dodge sedan attempted to avoid the crash and swerved into debris in the roadway.
A passenger in the Pontiac, identified as 51-year-old Sheila Beasley of Denton was pronounced dead at the scene. In all, there were 8 occupants in the 3 vehicles involved in the crash. The cause remains under investigation and MSP’s CRASH team is responding. The roadway was closed for hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
