Police Increase Enforcement for Memorial Day Holiday Weekend

Maryland State Police will increase their traffic safety initiatives for the holiday weekend, focused on speeding, aggressive driving and impaired driving.

Troopers will use laser speed measuring devices, unmarked vehicles and other measures to enforce the state’s traffic laws.

Maryland State Police Superintendent Colonel Woodrow Jones III said “Our priority is to do all we can to ensure the safety of each person traveling on Maryland roads throughout the holiday weekend.” He continued “Commanders will be deploying troopers to those areas where speeding complaints are most frequent and where crashes and impaired driving arrests have been the highest.”

Some Troopers will be working overtime, thanks to grant funding for impaired driving and aggressive driving enforcement.

Marylanders are reminded they can report dangerous driving by dialing #77 on their phone.
